Abstract

The South African apartheid government implemented unjust laws and as a result, the democratic government had to correct the mistakes of the apartheid regime. Government is in the process of selling the land to black farmers. Some black farmers are already owning the land and farms. The purpose of this article is to show the impact of awarding productive farms to black people who are not trained and not equipped with the necessary skills to manage and sustain farms. There is a knowledge gap that presentsthe results of the government's decisions to take farms to owners who have properly managed those farms without a proper plan to train black people. The objective of this study was to assist lawmakers and government officials to consider solutions to empower black people in the agricultural industry. Black people must be properly trained before they are allocated farms. The study applied secondary research methodology to collect data. Available information from all media platforms was used, including newspaper articles as well as government reports. The study found that black farmers are not able to sustain farms and find it difficult to meet the target they set for themselves.
