The impact of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine on the global economy

Abstract

This article providesan analysis of how the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to be an economic burden for the world. Countries that claim to be big brothers in the economy are struggling and pretend not to be affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. The objective of this article is to unpack the economic damage caused by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Subsequently, the article providesan analysis of the economic support received by both countries. The purpose of this paper is to provide insights into how the global community could have assisted the conflicted countries. The study utilized the available secondary data to reach conclusions and findings. The study found that the majority of countries that took sides in the conflicted countries did not understand the root cause of the conflict. Other countries after being informed about the root cause of the conflict did not want to take a stand on the matter. The study concludes that the fear instilled in different countries was the main cause that forced countries to either abstain from or favour Ukraine. The position of the United Nations, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America on the conflict, intimidated other countries.
