Abstract

The abstract presents the comprehensive development and evaluation of an anti-hair fall and anti-dandruff shampoo formulation containing Nyctanthes arbor-Tristis. Initial stages involved meticulous collection and authentication of herbal raw materials. Material procurement from reputable suppliers ensured quality and safety. Extraction methods, including Soxhlet and solid-liquid extraction, were employed for optimal compound isolation. Formulation considerations focused on shampoo base selection, incorporating surfactants, conditioning agents, preservatives, and fragrances for efficacy and safety. Serum formulation comprised key ingredients for hair care, targeting cleansing, moisture retention, and nourishment.

Evaluation encompassed various parameters such as odor, color, clarity, pH, solids content, wetting time, viscosity, cleaning action, surface tension, detergency ability, foaming ability, and foam stability. Results demonstrated the formulation's efficacy in terms of cleansing ability, spreadability, viscosity, dirt removal, and foam production. Notably, the shampoo exhibited a slightly acidic to neutral pH, suitable for hair and skin care. Overall, the study highlights the successful development and characterization of an herbal shampoo with promising anti-hair fall and anti-dandruff properties, offering insights into its potential for commercial use.
