Abstract

Skin disorders such as skin diseases are neglected in most societies, especially in 1/3rd of the world's population. This is based on the fact that they are not usually fatal, but are a major problem worldwide in terms of appearance. Some examples of skin diseases are eczema, bacterial infections, fungal/yeast infections, viral infections, parasitic infections, autoimmune diseases and other skin diseases. The roots of Leonotis nepetaefolia (L.) R.Br. and Tecoma stans (L.) Juss. Ex Kunth is used medicinally to treat skin and fungal infections. The present paper attempted to formulate and evaluate a herbal cream containing ethanolic root extract of the selected medicinal plant. Different batches viz., FC1 to FC8 using different ratios of ingredients were prepared and evaluated. The results of the evaluation parameters show that FC5 has the best results when compared with other formulation codes.
