Abstract

The overweight in junior high school students poses a silent health risk. As they transition into adulthood, they face an increased risk of various health conditions, including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and more. Here are some potential health risks associated with overweight. This research aims to examine the factors influencing overweight prevention among junior high school students. The study’s sample consisted of 364 junior high school students from Chachoengsao Province. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis, employing the stepwise method with a significant level of 0.05. Based on the data analysis, the results indicate that several factors significantly influence overweight prevention behaviors among junior high school students. The variables that emerged as predictors of overweight prevention behaviors in this study are diet and exercise habits, role models from family and friends, an environment conducive to food access, and attitudes toward overweight prevention.
