Development of UV Spectroscopy Fingerprinting Method for Estimation of Ellagic acid in Pathyadi Lepa

Abstract

Pathyadi Lepa is an Ayurvedic preparation widely used for the treatment of inflammation caused by skin diseases. The ellagic acid content was estimated in raw material, three laboratory batches (PL-I, PL-II & PL-III) of Pathyadi Lepa (PL) and one marketed formulation MF-PL using UV Visible spectroscopic method. The results indicate that the ellagic acid content was found to be .34±0.041, 0.451± 0.002, 0.548 ± 0.106, 0.539 ± 0.321 and 0.589± 0.229 in raw material, PL-I, PL-II, PL-III and MF-Pl respectively.
