Abstract

The current study is designed to evaluate the in vitro anti-ulcer activity and anti-arthritic activity of aqueous root extract of Syzygium samarangense. The extraction was done by using cold percolation method and the extract was subjected to the phytochemical screening. The In vitro anti arthritic activity of AESS was performed by using the bovine serum denaturation method, egg albumin denaturation method and membrane stabilization method. The in vitro anti-ulcer activity of AESS was performed by determining the acid neutralization capacity. The results revealed that AESS contains phytochemical constituents like alkaloids, steroids, carbohydrates and terpenoids. The AESS was exhibited the significant anti arthritic activity and acid neutralizing capacity when compared to the standard drug respectively
