Abstract

Background: Osteoporosis is more common in older age people and may reflect on the impaired loss of bone and affects peak bone mass in an individual and it may lead to the risk of the fragility of bone, however, no study has been yet assessed in the knowledge of osteoporosis among health care providers, particularly in physiotherapist. Therefore, we evaluated the knowledge, awareness, and risk factors of osteoporosis of physiotherapists. Methods: In January 2022, 124 physiotherapists were evaluated using the Osteoporosis knowledge assessment tool (OKAT). Results: In total 76 (61%) female participants at Private paramedical college were enrolled in the study. The average age of the participants was 84.14 (±22.16) years (age range, 15 to 30 years) Participants. Conclusions: Our study showed that the level of knowledge of osteoporosis, among young physiotherapists was improved in the post-survey questionnaire method. However, the educational interventional program was conducted on academic institution, such as awareness program may drastically change in osteoporosis knowledge in study participants and create awareness on prevention and complication of the disease, In future, our study may suggest that, prevalence of the disease in a particular district may reduce in the study area of the population.
