Abstract

Aegle marmelos, Pterocarpus marsupium, and Psidium guajava are widely distributed plants found throughout India and are commonly employed for treating diverse ailments. While the therapeutic effectiveness of each individual plant part is well-established, their combined or synergistic effects remain ambiguous. The polyherbal formulation was prepared by incorporating aqueous extracts of the leaves by direct compression method. The tablet was formulated with equal proportions of active ingredients. Granules and the finished product underwent quality evaluation following the guidelines of WHO provided for the quality control of herbal materials. The finished product complies with the standards prescribed by the authorities. In the study, DPPH radical scavenging method is used to analyze the antioxidant property and antidiabetic efficacy of the tablet was tested by glucose uptake assay on 3T3 L1 cell lines. The tablet showed a concentration-dependent activity, this may be due to the synergistic action of phytoconstituents present in the extracts.
