Abstract

Background

There are lots of disease that require the lifetime medication. When a patient takes a medicine that often make them feel better, medicine is only thing that the patient can trust to improve their health condition when they suffer from any disease. But taking different medicine multiple time in a day can be a tedious task and patient may also feel inconvenient to have those medicine in their working place and during day travel, also some patients want to keep their disease state private. Many pharmaceutical industries are in a continuous endeavor to produce medicine that are safe, effective and convenient that ultimately leads to the patient compliance. One of the best inventions in the pharmaceutical field is the development of Bilayer oral dosage form because this helps to overcome the above-mentioned difficulties that the patient has to face.

Main body 

Bilayer oral dosage form, one layer with immediate release drug and another layer with sustained release maintains single or two preferred drug concentration in the blood within an identified therapeutic window, sustained release drug are usually designed to slowly release a drug in the body over a extended period of time while immediate release drug release drug immediately after administration. All Bilayer oral dosage form should meet the release pattern given in the monograph or in the pharmacopoeia. The method selection for the preparation of oral dosage form depends on open the physiochemical property of the drug.

Conclusion

The motive of this study is to show the benefit of the bilayer oral dosage form containing both immediate release and sustained release.
