Abstract

Introduction: Cancer is a generic term for a large group of diseases that can affect any part of the body. Other terms used are malignant tumours and neoplasms. One defining feature of cancer is the rapid creation of abnormal cells that grow beyond their usual boundaries, and which can then invade adjoining parts of the body and spread to other organs; the latter process is referred to as metastasis. Widespread metastases are the primary cause of death from cancer.When malignant cells proliferate within the stomach lining, stomach cancer results. This type of cancer, also known as gastric cancer, can be challenging to identify because the majority of people rarely exhibit symptoms in the early stages. As a result, it frequently goes undetected until it has spread to other bodily areas.The present study title: “A study to assess the knowledge regarding stomach cancer among adults in selected community area of Pune city”.Material and Methods: In present study, researcher adopted non descriptive design. It was carried out on 100 samples. The Non-probability Convenient sampling method was used to data was collected using demographic profile and clinical profile. Data analysis was done mainly using descriptive statistics. Result: Result revealed depicts that majority 76%  of participants were having Average knowledge regarding stomach cancer and 17% were having Good Knowledge and only 7% were having Poor knowledge with mean of 10.96and Sd +  2.38. Conclusion : A statistically there is Association of knowledge with demographic variables  which  shows that there is no significant association of knowledge  with Age , Gender and Education as p value is less than 0.05 of level of significance.
