Abstract

Background: Numerous post-pubescent females find that their menstrual cycle is an eventful one because they suffer from dysmenorrhea, a type of lower abdomen pain. The prevalence of dysmenorrhea, which ranges from 60 to 93%, is a significant contributor to short-term impairment. In order to treat dysmenorrhea and enhance efficiency, innovation, achievement at work, and life quality, complementary and alternative therapies like acupressure and acupuncture may be used as nursing interventions. Objectives: The study's goals are to measure the prevalence of dysmenorrhea among nursing students and examine the impact of acupressure on the condition of the experimental group of nursing students. Method: For the study, a quantitative research approach methodology was used. A quasi- experimental pre- test-post-test research design was employed. At many nursing sodalities in Delhi/ NCR, a purposeful sample strategy was used to choose out 60 nursing students who haddysmenorrhea. The WaLIDD Scale was utilized to assess how well SP6 acupressure treated dysmenorrhea. For the data analysis, descriptive and deducible statistics were employed. Results: The mean post-test for nursing students in the experimental group is 4.23, which is lower than the mean post-test for the control group, which is 7.5. At the 0.05 threshold, the obtained mean difference was determined to be statistically significant. In order to determine whether there was any association between the post-score of nursing students who received SP6 Acupressure and demographic variables, the fisher exact test value was obtained. After computation, it was discovered that there was no association between the post-test score of nursing students in the experimental group and demographic variables at the 0.05 level of significance. Conclusion: The study came to the conclusion that administering SP6 Acupressure to nursing students was successful in lowering their experience of pain during dysmenorrhea. Trial Registration: retrospectively registered.
