Incidence Of Complications During Haemodilysis Among Chronic Kidney Diseased Patients At Tertiary Care Of Hospital Of The City

Abstract

Introduction-Haemodialysis is a continuous process completed in almost 4 hours. during this procedure toxic substances are removed from the body by simple diffusion technique through a dialysis machine during the procedure a lot of changes in the fluid and mineral compartment occurs due to which patients suffer from various complications. The aim of the study was to assess the complications during haemodilysis and to findout the association between the patient related complications during haemodilysis and vascular related complications with selected demographic variables. Dialysis unit of MGM hospital Aurangabad was selected for this study and purposive sampling techniques was used for collecting data. Instrument used to collect the data were classified as demographic variables and modified observational checklist.  Material & Method- A descriptive study was conducted at nephrology department of dialysis unit of tertiary care of hospital from 7 Dec.2020 to 7 Jan 2021.A total of 40 patients on regular haemodilysis were Above 18 years of age and patient who are diagnosed as chronic kidney disease included in the study.  The sample size was 300 Chronic kidney patients. Patient with acute renal failure and terminally ill patient were excluded from the study. Results- Out of 300 samples most commonly observed complications were hypotension 3 %, Hypertension 15 %, Nausea and vomiting 1.66 %, Muscle cramps 22.6 %, Itching 2.6 %, Fever 2.3 %, Chill/Shivering 36 %, Headache 5.3, Restlessness 4.66 %, Backache 1 %, hyperglycaemia 0.33 %, fall in spo2 1.6 %,4.33 % had breathlessness found. Conclusion- the study findings concluded that the patient undergoing haemodilysis are life threating but they are manageable and their frequency is low. There by help the patient to cope up with the treatment and for better quality of life.
