Abstract

Recreation plays a crucial role in our lives. Engaging in activities you enjoy can help reduce stress and anxiety. It also helps in shaping a child's development, impacting their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. By participating in a variety of activities, children gain skills and experiences that not only prepare them for future challenges but also contribute to their overall well-being. A Quasi-Experimental study was done to assess the effectiveness of recreation on the learning behavior of children in the selected community of Gurugram on 60 children in Anganwadi who were in the age group of 3-5 years. Methods The sampling technique used in this study was total enumerative sampling technique. The sample size was 60. Data was obtained by the self structured pictorial questionnaire by the children. Analysis and interpretation of the data were done by using inferential and descriptive statistics. Result It was observed that when we compare the overall marks obtained in pre and post-test, the mean difference was found to be -1.62 which is statistically significant at 0.05 level of significance. So, the recreational module was effective on learning behavior. Discussion Recreational activities help in learning as well as reducing stress. There are many researches that support recreational activities for modifying behavior of person. It provides self-esteem and self-confidence and increases motivation. Conclusion The present study was intended to assess the effectiveness of recreational module on learning behavior of children at selected community of Gurugram. Use of recreation promotes a break in the existing monotony of learning directives and promotes healthy learning and change the perspective towards learning behavior of individual.  Recreational activities are good for cognitive, psychomotor & affective development. Artistic and creative recreational activities like drawing, painting, and music can enhance a child's creativity and imagination. Also, It's essential to consider the child's interests, abilities, and developmental stage when choosing recreational activities and monitoring their participation.
