Abstract

Pharmacoepidemiology studies are very important for the identification of chronic disorders in population across regions. India had diversity not only in temperature but also in population from one region to another region.Different traditions along with different dietary habits, life styles can influence metabolic disorders like diabetes, thyroid conditions. The present observational study reveals pattern of two chronic disorders includes diabetes and hypertension which occurs as side by side in the rural populations particularly. It includes identification of socioeconomic factors, riskfactors, prevalence ratio in females and males, physical activity assessment and awareness on identification and follow up of these conditions in the rural population. A total 1263 population was selected for the study as per the results higher incidence of the above conditions are at the age of 41 -60 in both males and females. As per the score obtained through International Physical Activity Questionnaire shows that female population are having less physical activity compared with the males. Most of the males are having higher risk factors like smoking and alcohol. The awareness in the identification of pathological condition was almost similar in male and female whereas the follow up is very poor in both. This study concluded that continuous monitoring on the chronic disorders is necessary at core level even in smaller areas. Newer life style modifications like intake of carbonated products and its impact on health should be identified. Physical activity should be particular on certain regions of body apart from regular concepts like walking and running.
