Determining Adolescents’ Sexual Health Needs in Sirjan County; Iran

Abstract

Adolescents’ sexual health needs cover a variety of subjects regarding sexual principles and behaviors. The present study was conducted to determine adolescents’ sexual health needs. Thirteen school-going adolescents and 44 informed subjects were evaluated using individual face-to-face semi-structured in-depth interviews and two group interviews and then analyzed using the content analysis approach. The findings were categorized in seven categories: educational, family, information source, social interactions related, school, leisure time and occupational and religious needs. Identifying this needs will be important for planning and policy-making for meeting the needs and improving the overall health status of this population.
