Abstract

Objective: To perform the bibliometric analysis for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of publications on grape seed extract (GSE). The research productivity can be measured with the use of bibliometric analysis.

Methodology: An extensive search was done in Scopus using the keywords “biological effects of grape seed extract in dentistry” on July 20, 2022. Among 1018 articles, 50 cited articles were considered. Vosviewer software and Excel sheet were used to analyse authorship, keywords and co-occurrence.

Result: Based upon the analysis among the top 50 referenced articles, Dr Bedran Russo AK has the highest link strength of about 37, The United States had the most referenced articles of about 24 in the year 2014, and the occurrence of keywords had been done. Proanthocyanidin had the most occurrence about 31, the highest cited article with a citation count of about 246 done by Petti s et al.

Conclusion: The naturally extracted products have less cytotoxicity compared to the other commercially available products. This bibliometric analysis paves the way to fellow researchers for the usage of GSE in dentistry

Clinical significance: The bibliometric study provides useful information on research trends in terms of the total number of publications on grape seed extract. It also identifies the top nations and institutions involved in gape seed extract usage in dentistry and provides a comprehensive overview of researchers in this subject.
