Background: Light-curing units (LCUs) are used daily in almost every dental practice as they are required for resin-based composites, luting cements and adhesives. The present study was conducted to assess the functional efficacy of various light‑curing units (LCUs)in dental clinics. Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted in two types of light curing unit i.e. light‑emitting diodes (LEDs) and quartz–tungsten–halogen (QTH). Frequency of LCUs, satisfaction, intensity and frequency of bulb replacement were also recorded. Results: Out of 80 LCUs, 27 were QTH and 53 were LED . The mean intensity of QTH was 412.12 W/cm2and of LED was 614.86 W/cm2. The difference was significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The light intensity of LED units is significantly higher than that of QTH light curing units and the frequency of bulb replacement in QTHs was more than in LEDs.
