Separation and Simultaneous Determination of Five Active Components in Isodon japonica by Microemulsion Capillary Electrophoresis

Abstract

A new, simple microemulsion capillary electrophoresis method has been used to separate pedalitin, oridion, epinodosin, lasiodin, and lasiodonin. Using a running buffer composed of 14% microemulsion +
40 mM borax solution, satisfactory separation of pedalitin, oridion, epinodosin, lasiodin, and lasiodonin was
achieved within 10 min. The detection limit was obtained for lasiodonin (0.56 µg/mL), epinodosin (0.45 µg/
mL), oridion (2.1 µg/mL), lasiodin (0.65 µg/mL), and pedalitin (0.82 µg/mL). The microemulsion capillary
electrophoresis method can be used for simultaneous separation and determination of five active components
in Isodon japonica, obtaining recovery percentages ranging from 97.2 to 104.3%.
