Abstract

Introduction: Stroke contributes at large to the acquired disability that is found in adults and it is an important concern related to health. The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined stroke as quickly developing clinical manifestations of focal disturbance of the cerebral function, with some symptoms lasting 24 hours or more or lead to death, with no visible cause other than of vascular origin. Material and Methods: the study adopted Quantitative approach with Quasi- experimental, research design. It was carried out on 80 samples. The non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to select samples. Result: study result showed that the effectiveness of respiratory muscle training on respiratory parameters among stroke patients analysed by using paired ‘t’ test. The t-value being 29.6530. by using unpaired t-test, the effectiveness of respiratory muscle training on respiratory parameters among stroke patients in experimental post and control post analysed by using unpaired ‘t’ test. The t-value being 11.1594. The p-value <0.0001. The results concluded from this were statistically significant at p<0.05 level. Hence, we reject the null hypothesis. H0 is rejected because the t table value was less than the t calculated value at 0.05 level of significance. Hence there is difference in respiratory parameters of experimental and control group after respiratory muscle training. Conclusion: The study Results concluded that respiratory muscle training is effective on respiratory parameters among stroke patients.
