Abstract

The development of self-esteem in childhood significantly influences various aspects of an individual's life, impacting health behaviors, academic achievements, and social conduct. However, children residing in orphanages often face resource limitations and lack comprehensive programs aimed at enhancing self-esteem (Paul, A. 2016). This study investigates the association between self-esteem levels and demographic variables among orphaned adolescent children’s, aiming to shed light on their unique challenges and the need for tailored interventions.

In this study researchers has adopted a descriptive research design, this study utilized the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale to gather data, and sample size was 100 participants from selected orphanage settings, employing purposive sampling techniques. Contrary to expectations, the findings indicate no significant association between demographic characteristics and the self-esteem level of adolescents in orphanages. This highlights the complexity of self-esteem development in this demographic, independent of their background attributes.

The research underscores the critical importance of recognizing and addressing the distinct hurdles faced by orphaned children in orphanage settings. It emphasizes the necessity for interventions specifically designed to nurture self-esteem among these individuals, regardless of their demographic diversity. By illuminating this aspect, the study contributes valuable insights to the broader conversation on the well-being of orphaned children and provides essential guidance for future strategies aimed at enhancing their psychological health and overall quality of life.

Understanding the complexities of self-esteem development among orphaned children’s can serve as a foundational basis for targeted interventions, ensuring that these individuals receive the necessary support and resources to improve their self-worth and resilience. This study serves as an important steps for initiating different teaching learning programs or any intervention programs that can positively impact on the lives of orphaned children, fostering a more comprehensive approach to their well-being and development.
